INSPIRATIONAL ARTISTS 3OF 3~ Carla Mellon

A few years ago I went to the DIA for the second time (though it was more the first because i actually got to look around). I was in aw of all the amazing art that surrounded me, actually seeing the paintings i had only looked at photographs of. Though I have yet to make it through the entire museum, i have found one of my favorite paintings (Talking Oak) one that haven't seen since my second visit but have searched for. That painting was done by William Maw Egley  who inspires me to see the beauty in an ordinary setting.

Another artist that truly inspires me is Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh has always, always been one of my favorite artists. He has a very distinct style in his paintings, everything flows almost together and shows form in a very free way. A lot of the paintings I have done in the past have been inspired by that free flowing style and it continues to, in a way, make me day dream of ideas.

The first artist that I really like and that inspires me is Jaclyn Hilber she is an artist that i came across at the CCS student art show. Her work has an elegance to it but is also a bit odd in expression. the pieces are of a quality and level of maturity that all age groups can appreciate. i believe that her work inspires me because the personality she expresses is much like my own in a kind of morbid beauty (not all of her work has that touch of morbidity)
